About this tool
Every platform has its own preferred image dimensions, and uploading the wrong shape often means awkward automatic cropping. This tool lets you set an exact width and height, or start from a preset for common destinations such as Instagram posts, YouTube thumbnails and website hero images.
Keep the aspect ratio locked to scale an image without distortion. When the new shape is different from the original, drag the crop frame to choose which part of the picture to keep.
How to use it
- Add an image.
- Pick a preset or enter a custom width and height.
- If the shape changes, drag the crop frame (or use the arrow keys) to position it.
- Choose an output format and download.
Frequently asked questions
Will resizing make my image blurry?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than its original size cannot add detail that was not there, so enlarged images may look soft. The tool warns you when you are upscaling.
What does "keep aspect ratio" do?
It keeps the proportions of the image the same, so when you change the width the height updates automatically and nothing gets stretched or squashed.
Are the presets official platform sizes?
They are widely used recommended sizes at the time of writing. Platforms change their guidance from time to time, so check the platform’s own help pages if an exact size is critical.
